La Gomera
About 20 miles southwest of Tenerife you find one of the smallest islands of the Canary Islands, Gomera. No tourist crowds are found here, but a relaxed atmosphere in the small place of San Sebastian, the capital of the island.
Over the last few years the fishing on Gomera is absolutely booming!
Because of the height of the island is always possible to fish the lee of the island and dropouts due bad weather are very rare. An additional advantage is once the port is left, the fishing can start be within minutes. Here the slopes run gently down and drops suddenly to depths over 2000 yards.
The presence of the many baitfish ensures ideal conditions for blue marlin (largest specimen season 2009 1185lb), white marlin and spearfish. Also big specimens yellowfin, bigeyetuna and albacore are coming onboard each spring and fall.
