Big Game Fishing Las Galletas information Tenerife
Situated between La Gomara and Gran Canaria you’ll find the biggest island of
the Canary Islands, Tenerife, also known as ‘the island of the eternal spring.
Just after a couple hour flight you will find yourself in a subtropical climate, to rest and relax and enjoy the nature.  De capital of Tenerife is Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The centre of Santa Cruz exists of old neighbourhoods, modern architecture, a couple of boulevards and many beautiful parks. If you had enough of the city, you can get to a wonderful beach in no time. The name Tenerife comes from the language of the Guanches and means ‘White Mountain’. This name is obviously based on the highest mountain of Spain, the Pico del Teide. This 3718 meter high volcano lays in the middle of the island and is part of the national park that attracts thousands of visitors every year. From time to time the top is covered with snow, in clouds or sulphur fumes.
Tenerife has a surface of 2354 km2 and is populated by 700.000 people.

The north is the most populous, especially around Santa Cruz. The Island is divided by to climates caused by the Teide. The humid northwest is covered with tropical vegetation and vineyards. The south is dry, hot and rocky. Tenerife lives on tourism, drawn by the sun, beach and clean air. Initially the tourist visited the green north, but very quickly the warm south got discovered. Here beaches were made with white Sahara sand, where first were rocky coasts. Hotels emerged and a green oasis was build. With success, many tourist now enjoy their holiday in the south, in Playa de las Americas and Los Cristianos in particular. Depending on what you want to do, you can go hiking and explore the nature in the north. And in the south enjoy the sun. The most attractive side of Tenerife, for tourist, is the south, the climate is dryer and warmer, thanks to the protecting volcano the Teide.
Because of the volcano eruptions you wont find a lot white bounty beaches here, only those
human-made. Examples of these artificial beaches are Playa de las Teresitas in the north,
Playa las Vistas the beach of Los Cristianos and Playa del Duque in Adeje. Tourism caused beaches to grow with many restaurants, shops and bars. The most beaches consist of lava sand and rocks.
One beach definitely worth visiting is Playa de las Americas, a volcanic black beach which gets covered with a layer of white sand from the Sahara.
Puerto de la Cruz is the oldest seaside resort of Tenerife on the rocky coast of the north. Because of the rocky environment there aren’t any real beaches, but this was solved by building a big waterpark. Especially the older tourists visit the north. Of course Tenerife has a national park, Parque Nacional del Teide. Here you will find Las Canadas, 7 sand plateaus which arisen by the collapsed of old craters. Here you will also find the observatory, the Izana-observatory. To get to the top of the volcano, Pico del Teide, you have to apply for a permit to climb the Teide.

For those who like water sports there is enough to do, diving, (wind)surfing, waterskiing and sailing. When diving there is a chance you will see stingrays and morays. Other sports to practice on the island are golf and moutainbiking.
